Western Promenade

Finally, on the second day of June
The sun came out, no more winter blues
At lunch break, our jobs were so very far away
We were all staring from underneath our shades

People were walking up on Congress Street
Wearing their new clothes, looking for someone to meet
The smiles and glances and all the hidden thoughts
How to break the silence where we're caught

What can you give me?
Say that you need me
Oh, but you're leaving, no...
You would complete me
I've been so lonely
I know you're all that I want
(All that I need)

On the weekend, we gather on the Western Promenade
The other groups of strangers, we give them a nod
The students and couples and dogwalkers abound
We lay a blanket down upon the ground

And we sit there in silence, soaking in the sun
In peace, so grateful, the day has just begun
In this city that's so small it could be a family
Oh, but everyone is leaving to sail the open sea

What can you give me?
Say that you need me
Oh, but you're leaving, no...
You would complete me
I've been so lonely
I know you're all that I want

(You're all that I want...)
(You're all that I need...)
