Part 1: A Heart Breaks Slow

For some people a heart breaks slow
For others it's gone faster than you know
And their phone calls don't come anymore
There's only silence words were before
For some people a heart breaks slow

For some people the love doesn't die
The best thing they can do is work and try
To fill their hearts and minds again
And find someone who understands
That for some people the love doesn't die

For some people it's just too much
To live their lives clinging to a crutch
I hope that they'll all be ok
I promise those thoughts can go away
But for some people it's just too much

For some people a heart breaks slow

One of the sadder things I've ever seen was a sign in a door said don't unlock me
Except for the owner of this home Ms. So and So whose life's gone wrong
Well I had my job to do so I knocked on the door and it opened to
A little boy about 5 years old his mama came running intent to scold
She said, "I told you not to open that for anyone"
He said, "I thought we kept it locked just for daddy mom"

One of the sadder things I've ever heard is that a mom had to tell her son hard words
Your dad's done things we can't talk about and that's why I had to kick him out
He ain't the same man who married me he went off to war and some ops aren't clean
He had to do bad stuff and they took casualties
He didn't get help so he got real mean

Well what I hope you'll take away is that you never know what someone is going through today
This life is hard it can get real rough and there's no need to make anybody's tough
So be kind to everyone you meet cause you never know the pain of their sore feet
And be nice everywhere you go cause you never know
Whose heart breaks slow
