Fairytale

I used to read the writing on the wall
I used to find the meaning in it all
I used to dream in stories, I used to dream in song
I'd paint pictures in starlight only erased by the dawn

But little girls' dreams don't mean what they seem
When that last spot of sun turns to shade
And Is there any relief for those who still believe
Something good's gonna come their way?

Let's not let go of the fairytale
Let's not believe it's all gone to hell
Cuz darkness will come and we'll fall and we'll fail
But light will prevail,
If we just don't let go of the Fairytale

We grow older, the light starts to fade
And we stay in the shadows that swallow our faith
The truth slips through our fingers like dust through the sun's ray
And we can't help but wonder what happened to yesterday

We can hardly recognize the truth between the lies
So much talkin' in our ears
But I see through the charade of this empty masquerade
And I don't believe everything that I hear

Let's not let go of the fairytale
Let's not believe it's all gone to hell
Cuz darkness will come and we'll fall and we'll fail
But light will prevail
If we just don't let go of the Fairytale

Some say dreamers and sweet storytellers
Are just driftin' around with their heads in the rafters
But I say a story is like a kiss from a lover
And hope that is lost is our greatest danger

Let's not let go of the fairytale
Let's not believe its all gone to hell
Cuz darkness will come and we'll fall and we'll fail
But light will prevail
If we just don't let go of
If we just don't let go of the Fairytale
