A jaded angel told me yesterday
Of my dream come true

Smiling, she said the sun would have to shine
In my life sometime

And then she drifted
Drearily away

And my sun did come then
In shades of red caressed with blue

And it shone so bright
It burned my eyes
To nothing

And left me standing in the rain

Because I'm really much too high

I'm just a fallen angel
Who tried to fly
But I don't mind

I'm so alone again, and
Thinking thoughts that
Scare the birds away

In this field of gray
But for me the colors dance and play

In this cathedral of nature
I found my castle
I'm living under rocks

Or it could be a sewer
You know it's all a product
Of my twisted thoughts

Sometimes that's how it is
When you're left standing
Alone in the rain

I've been down so low
Thought I could never
Could never be kicked again
