July 28th

I drove a hundred miles just to get drunk
When I got there I started having second thoughts
I drove a hundred miles to escape reality
Turns out that all this time reality was escaping me

I took a drive to heal the cracks in my soul
Now all I have is a crack in my window
I had some time to think, some time to reflect
Thought about some things that I'd like to correct

Life never goes as planned
The future's way too far away
Don't get lost in your own story
It may make sense one day

I sat in the back of my car and gazed across the water
I thought about destiny and why I always fought her
I didn't want to be where I was but what could I do
I had been down for days, but couldn't pull though

I hoped to get inspired by Mr. Petty
But when the song came on I just wasn't ready
He said the good 'ol days may not return
The rocks might melt and the sea may burn

Life never goes as planned
The future's way too far away
Don't get lost in your own story
It may make sense one day

I drove a hundred miles just to get drunk
When I got there I had second thoughts
I used a tank of gas in hopes that I would change
I drove two hundred miles but I feel the same
