Momma said this day would surely come
She said those two could hide and they could run
But the things they did could never be undone
She knew their days would end with the sound of a gun

Most folks know the story of Bonnie and Clyde
As two young kids in love on a wild ride
Now for a minute put all that you know aside
And I'll tell you a tale I saw with my own two eyes

A muggy May night turned into a muggy May day

Old man Methvin said the two would come this way
So they jacked up his truck just so they'd stop and stay

Barefoot Clyde doing 85 around that bend
At the top of the hill he slowed when he saw his friend
Bonnie and Clyde stopped by just to lend a hand
Hell and brimstone commenced, Clyde and Bonnie met their end

When the law with the car in tow stopped out front to say

When you break the law or forget to pray
