Over, but Not Done

I can Photoshop you from the pictures of the good times that we shared
I can shred the cards that told me through the years just how much you cared
I can pack the memories from places where we've been
I can even hide the pain behind some silly grin
Say out loud that nothing's lost and nothing has been won
Tell our friends it's over, but I know it's not quite done

I don't want to pick a scab I'm sure will start to bleed
Even though it just might be the very thing I need
So lost when you found me; now I'm lost when we're apart
Have to find a way to make this end another start

I can call up lots of friends that made me laugh those many years ago
Go out to the bars and clubs or maybe we'll take in that new show
I can try out some new hobby or sit and watch TV
But being all alone is not the same as being free
Stay around and face the facts or just pack up and run
I can lie and say it's over, but I know it's not quite done

I don't want to pick a scab I'm sure will start to bleed
Even though it just might be the very thing I need
So lost when you found me; now I'm lost when we're apart
Have to find a way to make this end another start

I need some help to make this end a brand new start
