Static

My old shadow stood in front of me today.
Thought those memories had gone away,
But now old thoughts are on the replay.
Thought by now they'd loose their meaning,
But it's how I survive: Hammer in prayers
'Til my mind starts bleeding.

At one point I could turn it all into static,
Drown the background out while I still went at it.
Used to be more quiet of a sound,
But now I wonder if I'm hearing it out loud.
Sometimes I think I've forgotten how to turn it Down.
If I could I'd take the radio out,
But it's what I need to forget the shadow beside Me.

I got tired of the mirrors in my room.
Seeing a ghost in the reflection doesn't
Make for a good afternoon.
Are we all just actors working for free
In a world where we can't see
What's underneath?

At one point I could turn it all into static,
Drown the background out while I still went at it.
Used to be more quiet of a sound,
But now I wonder if I'm hearing it out loud.
Sometimes I think I've forgotten how to turn it down.
If I could I'd take the radio out,
But it's what I need to forget the shadow beside Me.

My old shadow stood in front of me today.
Thought those memories had gone away.
