A Journey Is Like a Shipwreck and He Whose Boat Has Never Drowned Knows Nothing About the Sea

Look at the river changing and reversing the direction of its flow
Water's running up the hill and it's dry below
The deep-sea oyster flies as I throw
My hands up in disbelief, where did all the pearls go

See me move restlessly through a desert land
With no urge to take root and no coffee breaks
I defy both traps and snakes
The sailor's about to strand

Alcohol-fuelled recurring hallucination puts me to sleep
I don't want to be ruled by reason, there's truth to drown
The wild man's anger grows in every season & sure goes deep
Sure as I breathe, I deserve the idle king's crown

Watch me crawl, see me rise as you hand
Me the boarding pass to some waterless lakes
I still don't know what it takes
To drown this desert with sand

Look at my journey taking sinuous, vertiginous & useless U-turns
Please release me from the toxic fumes
Of this insanity lane
It aches, it breaks, it burns
And adds to the pain
Of blow-drying my concerns under
Constant rain
