Cuckoo Park

Night falls on Cuckoo Park covering the sky
People huddled in doorways trying to stay dry
A figure sits alone, devoid of any home
Birds her only company upon her wooden throne

And no-one looks her way
Or asks if she's okay
Yeah, they pass her by
Don't even say hello
They avert their eyes
And move on with their lives
Yeah, they pass her by
She sits there all alone

The sky is afire with falling autumn leaves
Tiny little parachutes abandoning the trees
Life ebbs and flows as people come and go
She remains motionless and the world moves on

And no-one looks her way
Or asks if she's okay
Yeah, they pass her by
Don't even say hello
They avert their eyes
And move on with their lives
Yeah, they pass her by
She sits there all alone

She stands guard
Like a sentry on a battlefront wall
Never straying
From her post she remains tall
As the day winds on
She doesn't move an inch
She just sits there like a lump of stone

And no-one looks her way
Or asks if she's okay
Yeah, they pass her by
Never knowing that she'd died
