The Castle of Gemona

A mysterious legend is handed down
To the castle of Gemona
A long time ago, on a Summer Night
A peddler slept under the Town Hall
At midnight he was awakened by
A strange voice that whispered to him:
"If you are brave, tomorrow night
You have to come here again"

The following night the peddler went
Again he heard the mysterious voice:
"Come with me to the tower:
You will have to throw a stone to the beast
Standing on a treasure chest
In its mouth it has a key
Before it strikes one at night
You have to steal it for me"

The peddler, slightly fearful,
Did what was required,
But just when he seemed to have done
The one o'clock finally came.
The mission had failed
And the beast disappeared into the flames
The mission had failed
And the beast disappeared into the flames

The soul said: "I had the hope
Now a new tree will have to be born
To make the cradle for another man
Who can then try again "
The soul of the Castle cannot be free
Who'll be the next man to be called?
Sooner or later the soul will show itself
And the mystery will be solved.
