Lady in a Pink Dress

Lady in a pink dress
You looked beautiful last night

The smile on your face, the twinkle in your eye
I'd love to say all those last for words
But you leave me speechless every time

I always ask God why he made you so beautiful
The book of Genesis says you were made in his image
So that explains it all
You really don't need an introduction, your presence speaks for itself
Like the fear developing in me
That you'll make memories with someone else
I saw you with him last night, my heart sank slightly

He's taller than me and I'm not sure if height
Is the reason you don't like me like I want you to like me
I really like you, like a lot
And it feels slightly weird to be my age
And still use the word like to convey affection
But I guess thinking of you can at times
Make me feel giddy enough to want to venture into the unknown

To throw caution to the wind, hold your hand and walk slow
Through this journey of life, knowing we'll never let each other go
But I'm afraid there already may be another
And that'll be his hand you hold, and not mine
And the thought scares me, but I trust in God
And I know that whatever comes

Romans 8:28 says everything is going to be alright
And that's not to say God has sworn to graciously give you to my hand
So that we can start our life
But it is to say that, in that land
It won't matter whether you held my hand or someone else's
But that ultimately, you held Christ's
