Recreational Outrage

Suburban trust fund kids and pseudo activists
Thinking they're on par with Dr.King or Malcom X
From behind computer screens they're boasting bravery
Spouting deeply held beliefs on things that almost everyone agrees

Nothing really matters
No one really cares
Pre approved opinions
Are all I seem to hear

So signal all your virtues until your blue in the fucking face
And flaunt your ally badges like you're trying to win a race
If your nose is in the air is your heart in the right place
You've become a mirror image of what you claim to hate

No one stands for nothing as far as I can see
You lose the will to listen when all you do is preach
If no one stands for nothing they'll fall for anything
Welcome to the era of recreational outrage

To treat oppression of another as opportunity
To take the stage and showcase your moral supremacy
Then you're no fucking better than what you claim to fight against
Compassionately calling out the point you seemed to miss

You don't care about the struggle
You don't care about the streets
You just want the label
Cause you think that it sounds neat

Now don't get me wrong I will always take the side
Of the downtrodden fighting for a better life
I won't exploit your struggle or cash in on your pain
That type of savior complex will never be for me

No one stands for nothing as far as I can see
You lose the will to listen when all you do is preach
If no one stands for nothing by they'll fall for anything
Welcome to the era of recreational outrage
