Calvary (Poem)

I remember not being liked
I remember getting so hyped up about finally getting attention from a woman
That I neglected to see the man that had been there for me this whole time
I remember crying in the library because after a difficult conversation
I ran to your word and you said I am yours and you are mine
You made that loud and clear, because when I asked for clarity
You said here you go there's no need to read between the lines
I've cast my anxieties and fears on you and you tucked them in and put them to rest
So why do I keep chasing after someone else's love
When I know yours is the best?
I feel so dumb and so worthless
I feel like all my efforts and trials are hopeless
But I keep running back to God
Because he comforts me and speaks to me softly my son, know this
Notice
That when everyone turns their back, I won't
When everyone says they hate you, I don't
My open arms will always be your home
Remember whose image you were made in, my own

My heart breaks when I see yours break
Come find peace in me when your whole-body aches
When your life has been shaken up from emotional earthquakes
I'll shield you from the storm and that burden
I'll take
So, when broken pieces align, I'm reminded you are mine
I direct my focus to the cross to see where God threw up his peace sign
