Townshend's Blues
Wrote a song last night, thought it was mine alone
Wwith a brilliant lyric and the sweetest tone too
Well my girl heard that song and she said it sounded just like the who
Had to change the chords, change the melody
I had to switch it around, I just could not let it be
Don't like it any more but now at least it sounds like me
Threw out all the words, I threw out every note
Tore apart my ego; my girl, she does not sugarcoat
So i started to sing the modified tune i wrote
I had it all worked out, every line was set
I even wrote it down so that I would not forget
Then I lost the paper, I can't remember anything I said
So what i'm singing now well this is version three
Got it saved on a floppy to prevent a calamity
It was written once by Pete and twice by me
Wwith a brilliant lyric and the sweetest tone too
Well my girl heard that song and she said it sounded just like the who
Had to change the chords, change the melody
I had to switch it around, I just could not let it be
Don't like it any more but now at least it sounds like me
Threw out all the words, I threw out every note
Tore apart my ego; my girl, she does not sugarcoat
So i started to sing the modified tune i wrote
I had it all worked out, every line was set
I even wrote it down so that I would not forget
Then I lost the paper, I can't remember anything I said
So what i'm singing now well this is version three
Got it saved on a floppy to prevent a calamity
It was written once by Pete and twice by me
