Grandma

My grandma asked me, "Are you coming to church with me this morning?"
Now she knows that I can't tell her no, so, I said, "Alright" (alright)
She told me what I could and could not wear, how much it's something
So, out of the door, with our new clothes, and we were on our (on our way)
Way to church

'Some Black Morning' was the song
When the pastor prayed, she would always say, "It's alright" (it's alright)
And Amen (at the church)
And when the offering came, she gave me change, "Put that in now"
That's what she said
What I would do is spend one moment with you
So we can make our (make our) way to church

Now, everybody, just clap your hands, yeah!
Well, everybody, get on your feet (get on your feet, y'all)
There's nothing quite like a Sunday morning (ain't nothing like it)
If you agree, just sing it with me
Oh, oh

Have you ever had an usher to tell you, "Hello, baby?"
Hey, baby, how you doin'? It is so good to see you
As she holds, God I had her down right up to the front view
Now she knows good as well
I don't wanna (I don't wanna), don't wanna sit there (don't wanna sit there)
But my grandma gave me just one look and she let me know
(You better sit under the set dancing) sit down
Sit down (sit down now!)

Sunday morning was a day
As she would sing, pray, clap her hands, and sing
Sing it, choir! (Show up more times, oh)
At the church, my grandma wore big hats
She was the first to march when she got there (got there, got there)
Those were the days I'll never forget, my baby
You showed me the way, way to church

Now, everybody, just clap your hands now (just clap your hands)
Well, everybody, get on your feet
There's nothing quite like a Sunday morning
If you agree, just sing it with me (sing it with me)
