The Joke (Taco Bowl)

The joke got told, and all it wanted to do
Was get told so much that it became true
Sat down on any tongue's tip
Hoping to get taken serious
When he talked it was to place a blame
Then he'd talk more to hear his own name
And I was just laughing at the things being said
Cause' every time he spoke I thought the joke would end

One night it seemed, the joke went on too long
Everybody was laughing till the punchline got told wrong
The room got quiet, it's not funny cause it's true
Half the joke you told getting told on you

The prided man can make proud
The fear in minds that make the crowd
Spoken like a tabloid and just as cheap
Promises that just won't keep
Real estate agent on his daddy's lawn
Telling people it's not their home
When he gets asked what he does that for
He just thanks them for the taco bowl

One night it seemed, the joke went on too long
Everybody was laughing till the punchline got told wrong
The room got quiet, it's not funny cause' it's true
Half the joke you told getting told on you

Some tea got spilled and the king went mad
And oh what a maddening fight was had
And if there ever was a more perfect dream
It's as lost as a smile on a pageant queen
The joke got told and like it wanted to do
It got told so much that it became true
Wasn't in the blast and weren't we impressed
When the prided one man amused us to death

One night it seemed, the joke went on too long
Everybody was laughing till the punchline got told wrong
The room got quiet, it's not funny cause' it's true
Half the joke you told getting told on you

Half the joke you told get told on you
Half the joke you told get told on you
