The Wedding
We headed out west right through La Grange and on to Dripping Springs
With a bridesmaid's dress and a three-piece suit that I almost forgot to bring
The party rolled in from across the state all sporting their boots and jeans
And we spent the whole night dancing to steel guitars and silver wings
My buddy Chris blew in from Washington, I hadn't seen him in some time
And Dave and Liz had a couple a kids but they left them little rascals behind
And it's always been just like my friends to come through when they have to
I only wish there could be more nights like these cause it's sad to say but true
It may be the last time that we all get together again
And it's probably best that some good things have to end
But if you're ever feeling lonesome or if there's anything you need
I'll be right beside you just like you've done for me
Well the lights turned on and the bar closed down it felt like the night was done
But the band kept playing and the girls kept saying we should stay up to see the sun
So we headed on back to Liney Moon as the rain started coming down
And we toasted to the bride and groom as we passed that bottle around
Cause it may be the last time that we all get together again
And it's probably best that some good things have to end
But if you're ever feeling lonesome or if there's anything you need
I'll be right beside you just like you've done for me
So here's to new beginnings - things won't ever be the same
But you'll always have those of us who came
Yeah here's to new beginnings - let's lay those old flames down to rest
Life moves on but the night's not over yet
And it may be the last time that we all get together again
Yeah it's probably best that some good things have to end
But if you're ever feeling lonesome or if there's anything you need
I'll be right beside you just like you've done for me
I said if you're ever feeling lonesome or if there's anything you need
I'll be right beside you just like you've done for me
