Potential Energy

So what are you doing with the rest of your life
The old critic wants to know
Cause after all these years, honey
You don't have anything to show

So I hid inside myself and left those curtains drawn
Cause I just couldn't bear being wrong
But sound waves will bend and they'll find me
And until I move I'm just potential energy

So I went digital right back to before
To see what the stars were doing on the day I was born
But they didn't really have all that much to say
Except that I better try to save my own day

And I follow that golden rule
Even thought I don't want or even mean to
It's cause and effect coming right at me
And until I look I'm just potential energy

Have a problem with my existence
It's something I just can't make right
Wishing I could settle for someone
To come and hold me tight
I'm sick of waiting here for time
And all that it's going to do for me
'Cause I can make it go fast or slow
So I can focus on what I want to see

So I look inside myself to see if I'm aware
That this whole time I was just scared
But the Universe is calling to me
