Ingeborg

Born in saxony's trade fair town
The golden twenties all around you
Harmony and peace in many ways
Your childhood days

A pretty young girl growing up
Into a world that couldn't stop
The outbreak of the war outside your door

Young people have their hopes and dreams in any generation
And it seems to me for all that came to pass
Despite of all the bitter truth- you did not let them take your youth
And little things you had were enough to make you glad
Even for a day, so let me say

At the age of twenty-three, first born child, young family
You stroke the tents and headed to go west, which was the best
You found a home away from home, in these early days you felt alone
Big city child stuck in the country side, but by and by

Came children number two and three, some safety and prosperity
And the circle of your friends turned out to be
A clique outlasting all those years, from party time to children fears
Now all those kids are grown and have children of their own
So you can be proud, not any doubt

So let me say about you, that we never knew without you
What it means to give and not to take, to love and never to forsake
And to be night and day prepared for helping right away
Ingeborg its true- so many things we still can learn from you

God bless you for your open ears- and may you live a hundred years
And watch your great-grandchildren grow
In harmony and peace in many ways, so you can see their childhood days
