Control Pt. 3: DelayeDeparture

Have you ever had it happen?
This realization that you're going to miss the moment you're living right now?
You're enjoying yourself, but still
You prepare for the aching feeling of tomorrow
Knowing that you won't ever relive today

You're suddenly aware of the importance of your words
And ask yourself if you're going to regret what's been already said or done
And you long for the carelessness of a young child
Who's still unaware of the consequences of their actions
And unbothered by their own existence, which they take for granted

With effort you stray back to present day from this slumber
And you tell yourself it's absurd to feel nostalgic towards what you're still seeing, hearing, feeling and breathing
Living in the moment won't be possible if you keep overthinking at this rate
So you burn the memory into your brain
A perfect snapshot of your five senses
Which will eventually fade with time
And you try to move on

A moment in between the lies (my eyes are finally open)
A conversation I was petrified (my ties are finally broken)
Disruption of my old disguise (time's always in motion)
Separation made me realize (no lies deserve devotion)
No possibility to pick a side (all sides lost in emotion)
Conversation just to start a fight (start a fight for words unspoken)
And I can't forget what I still regret
And I can try to find someone who
Finds our difference, our mutual conscience
A state of mind I can get behind
A point of view I somehow always knew
Still I'm too ordinary
