B Train

Here the whistle blow it's passed you by before
The conductor always smiled in a way
You could easily ignore
You're more certain now
Which way your feet should be goin'
Someone breathed the word freedom
you saw the weights you've been towin'
For the A train you would wait so patiently in
line now the B train's comin' and it'll do just fine

It's a party town where drinks are always free
But they don't cost half as much as the choices you can't see
Now you're sitting there where music used to play
All your friends have left you cold now that you feel a different way
On the A train you would hide away in the comfort of the party line
Now the B train's comin' and it'll do just fine

You used to call your kids your own ball and chain
All day long you'd watch them there like you were waiting out the rain
Until the night would bring strangers you don't know
At first they will appeal to you until their own sorrows show
The A train was your ride of choice until you saw the signs
Now the B train's corning and it'll do just fine

Some teeth are always white some clothes they look so grand
Yet your drive for perfection is a life you no longer understand
O but maybe you do and you're just letting it be
For that shining city ahead you now have grace to see
Yeah the A train you've been riding on satisfied for a time
Now the B train's comin' and it'll do just fine

It's a broken world but it rolls along
It's a life of shattered dreams and interrupted songs
I'm proud of you for what you will not allow
Your strengthened point of view is so obvious to me now
And the A train you've been riding
on is the furthest thing from your mind
Now the B train's comin' and it'll do just fine

Yeah, the A train you would wait so patiently in line
Now the B train's coming and it'll do just fine
