Poolside Poetry

Do you really wanna know
(Do you really wanna know)
Do you really wanna go there
(Do you really wanna go there)
I've been dying for you to grow
(I've been dying for you)
H-hello? Won't you answer the phone

I've got your lovers in the courtyard
And they're dancing like there's no on there
There's a fire in their hearts
It's tearing you apart
You're jealous of their fingers in my hair
(You're a change in the season)
It's Spring but Winter's here
You've got tears in your eyes
Not real? No surprise
Baby, I just really don't care

I'm working up a tan while you're crawling on your knees
I laugh, I cry, and write my poolside poetry
It's true, I only burn when the rays hit me
I sing, I try and write my poolside poetry

All my friends said you were no good
And what I read is that you would
Not give a damn about your soul
There's no glory in sitting in that hole
Please remember, in the pouring rain
Outside the bar, you only called my name

It's been long enough to know
(It's been long enough to know)
I'm happier than ever
(I'm happier than ever)
And the friends who told me so
(And the friends who told me so)
They told me for the better
(They told me for the better)
They told me for the better
(They told me for the better)

I've got your lovers in the courtyard
And they're dancing like there's no on there
There's a fire in their hearts
It's tearing you apart
You're jealous of their fingers in my hair
(You're a change in the season)
It's Spring but Winter's here
You've got tears in your eyes
Not real? No surprise
Baby, I just really don't care
