The 7th Day
Gotta start the story in 1999
My dad got a call from the hospital
My mom was finally going into labor
The doctors had previously warned my parents months ago
That they should think of abortion as a possible option
They said that the baby had a disease
& that I wasn't gonna make it past 2
They said that I'd come out disabled
My parents couldn't afford to take care of a child with special needs
They never gave up on me, they prayed
And decided to go through with the pregnancy
Right after the phone call
My father came rushing to the hospital from work
He was driving without his license
May 9th, I came to this world
Second child out of 3
Flower boy, that was me
Came on a Sunday morning
It was Mother's Day
7th day of the week
I could even say that God was working on his day off
My dad got a call from the hospital
My mom was finally going into labor
The doctors had previously warned my parents months ago
That they should think of abortion as a possible option
They said that the baby had a disease
& that I wasn't gonna make it past 2
They said that I'd come out disabled
My parents couldn't afford to take care of a child with special needs
They never gave up on me, they prayed
And decided to go through with the pregnancy
Right after the phone call
My father came rushing to the hospital from work
He was driving without his license
May 9th, I came to this world
Second child out of 3
Flower boy, that was me
Came on a Sunday morning
It was Mother's Day
7th day of the week
I could even say that God was working on his day off
