Better Days

Since 91 been chasing after something different
Grateful for what I had but wanted something bigger
Tired of sleeping on a mattress in my grandma's kitchen
Didn't wanna accept the life determined by the system

My grandpa taught me to execute a vision with precision
My grandma taught me love, and showed me I was gifted
My mom taught me to sacrifice for something you believe in
Family taught everything I'd need from the beginning

And God ain't pay no bills, so my mom was working double
So when I make it imma show her it was worth it the trouble
My uncle taught me drugs can take your life away
Miss who my uncle was before drugs took his life away

Humble beginnings fed the hunger to see better days
That's why I'm working hard, cuz imma make a way
Since 91, been inspired by my family's love
Now if that's something you relate to turn the music up

It wasn't always easy but I pushed
Gave my everything if that's what it took
Cuz I keep trying, and I keep on fighting
See I been beat down, and hit rock bottom
No matter how hard things got I always got up
I'm working hard to see better days
And i won't stop until I make a way

Blue skies, palm trees, and beach sand
Missing home when I was in Afghanistan
I look back on when I got shot at
And how my team had my back and shot back

Experience taught me more than school ever would
I wouldn't change a damn thing about my past if I could
Cuz I reflect upon my life as I light up this weed
And every trial and tribulation and what made me to be

And now the money start to stack up
And hoes coming round once they heard I got my racks up
Others felt the vision, so I'm rocking with a team now
Bitches got my name on they sleeves now

I been up, but more importantly I been down
That's why I appreciate the way I get to live now
And imma do it, cuz I know I been through it
And imma bless everybody that's been down with the movement

It wasn't always easy but I pushed
Gave my everything if that's what it took
Cuz I keep trying, and I keep on fighting
See I been beat down, and hit rock bottom
No matter how hard things got I always got up
I'm working hard to see better days
And i won't stop until I make a way
