I Benefited from Apartheid
I have been trying to write a song about Abahlali baseMjondolo
And a 17 year old girl that got shot by police
But it feels so fake
It feels so false to be sitting writing words that I know nothing about
And In Durban and Cape Town there have been forced removals in informal settlements
Apartheid like measures captured on iPhones
Wounded protesters murdered in their hospital beds
And does anybody care
Maybe It's too far from home
And a 17 year old girl that got shot by police
But it feels so fake
It feels so false to be sitting writing words that I know nothing about
And In Durban and Cape Town there have been forced removals in informal settlements
Apartheid like measures captured on iPhones
Wounded protesters murdered in their hospital beds
And does anybody care
Maybe It's too far from home
