Pots & Pans

The familiar clangs, echoing in the street
Reminds me of the past
This time we celebrate

8pm, some hope and solidarity
Some say it's easy to make a gesture like this
It's even easier to do nothing

Will we still be here for them?

On the other side of this catastrophe
I just hope that we don't forget

This could be the seed of change
A tsunami of rage
Overpowering relentless number crunching

I just hope we don't forget

But the media mill keeps spinning its colourful spectra
Of blame, shame and provocation

Every day a new outrage to keep you engaged
Encouraging us to give into amnesia
Can we evolve from selfish greed?

Strike a balance between want and need
This spanner in the machinery
Stainless steel pots and pans still rattling outside
I just hope I don't forget
