Hunters
I noticed first, standing in the line
Furtive eyes briefly meeting mine
Took in your form, your face, your style
Hadn't felt something like this in a while
I moved in closer, tried to catch your scent
You moved ahead, judging my intent
You're at the entrance and pass on in
I'm in the space you stood; my pulse quickens
I'm inside now, seek your silhouette
I glimpse your body dance and I'm on edge
I should be leading but I'm being lead
Why did you come tonight, not stay in bed?
Gotta' approach and find the words to say
And I wonder am I the hunter or the prey?
Think what should I say as I approach? I make my way
Through the hectic dancing crowds. They pulse and swirl to the sounds
Behind the swaying of her hair she starts to notice that I stare
And as I begin to speak she puts her finger to my lips
Hey boy, how you doin'? Are you feeling good?
Hey girl, you got me thinking things I know I shouldn't
Tell me boy, whisper what you're thinking in my ear
Girl I'm thinking how'm I gonna' get you outta' here
If you want to play, boy, then I can play along
But if you want it easy then, boy, you got it wrong
Girl I'm not a playboy, I just came to dance
But this night could be ours, just gotta' give me one chance
So I took her in my arms and made a space through the stars
Tried to make us feel alone like a hunter and its prey
Wind tense against our pulsing bodies but it's only us here
Could this be the only night that we will ever be together?
And I
Looked into her eyes
Space and time
Stood motionless
And she
Took my smile
Aimed crosshairs in line
And kissed my lips
My heartbeat quickens. Listen to a sudden movement
Feel the hot breath in the wind. Hairs stand upon my quivered skin
Tense up. Ready to run. Eyes meet a loaded gun
Thinking who will have their way? Am I the hunter or the prey?
Yeah!
