King Puppet
Please settle in and soon I'll begin
Please allow me to set the scene
Picture this: a kingdom by the sea
Amber sunset between the battlements
On the drawbridge, a lonely king
King Puppet has snipped his strings
The bone's been picked
It's a shameful coercion
The crown slips
Shades his view of the heavens
"It's okay, I keep my gods on my person"
The court has dwindled to an adoring few
Who gather with him 'round a sour plate
The break bread but take no nourishment
Their charge is to placate
Wooden bones and heart ablaze
Withered skin from endless days
The steel departs but frailty stays
One buys but the other pays
One buys but the other
The Duke's a fluke, the Baron's a bore
The deadly dragon is naught but lore
And as for the Prince
I haven't seen him since
Strode into the tide my beautiful bride
The Jester remains ever stronger, the fool
One day my kingdom the Jester will rule
"But which will you choose?"
The Jester mocked
The day the king was crowned
The day the puppet walked
"But which will you choose?"
The Jester sings
The day that time, crumbling
Brought the end of all things
He gathers his work and packs it away
For another king, on another day
Latched, lashed, and locked, never made a key
His chest is anchored at the bottom of the sea
The day the puppet walked
All the pictures falling down
I'll set fire to your grave
Take a spade to earth and stone
Slip an arm 'round your burial gown
And dance once more with your only bones
Please allow me to set the scene
