Cautionary Tale

It's a fortunate accident you've stumbled upon
Please meet Miss Pippi with her long stocking arms
And roll another quarter til it rolls rolls rolls away
It's gonna be a long night so find something to say

Well, Luke was a kid with a lot of friends
And he used his looks as a means to an end
But don't get me wrong they all know he pretends
Walking down the street with his boys again

And Hannah was a bitch, or so they all said
A pretty little girl with fishnets and cigarettes
Who's knocking on the door to her mother's house
Who opens it up and screams "get out!"

So what can you say
I'm all out of words
Sit back, raise your glass to
The clever boys and girls

So sick of skipping class, the kids they go to school
They all sit in the back, and they are so cool
And Hannah's got the number of a kid she used to know
He rings around the rosie selling pre-rolled joints and blow

Now it's getting kinda late and they're sitting in the room
Air so thick with smoke and knock-off perfume
And they're dropping off, one by one
But Hannah's still awake
She's flipping through the magazine and counting her mistakes

So what can you say
I'm all out of words
Sit back, raise your glass to
The clever boys and girls

And it's finally Friday, but who really cares
They decide to get drunk and play Musical Chairs
And Luke raps a verse from the Cat in the Hat
Then he laughs all goofy like he's brain dead or just relaxed
But Hannah thinks it's charming so she whispers in his ear
Then they kiss a little bit cause if they didn't it'd be weird
Then he grabs onto her shoulder, hands her another drink
She doesn't really want to, but she sips down the whole thing
And outside it is so still, but inside it starts to spin
Hannah starts to get scared, did he slip something in?

So what can you say
I'm all out of words
Sit back, raise your glass to
The clever boys and girls

But turn on the news, somebody died
Well they jumped off the roof cause they thought they could fly
And the mamas are all weeping cause they knew her as a child
Why did that little Hannah have to end up so wild?

And at the funeral, nobody says a word
Luke never even showed, said he never knew that girl
But her grandma cries and outside it starts to pour
This is a cautionary tale for you
Clever boys and girls
