Stars (Prelude)

Do you remember staring at water in space?
The stars and their warning signs drifting away through the waves
And you hadn't seen all the wonders the world could erase
Floating around in that lily-strewn galaxy lake
An asteroid's feathers brushing us as it flew past
Moons and their planets circling in parallax

And all, all you could feel was your hands filtering light
Supposed to be beautiful, we watched death give to life

Now, touched by the sun, you're barely alive
Now, on this earth, I guess I'll survive
We'll leave here in time
