Daniel Payne

I smoked my first blunt off Daniel Payne
At 16, the good ole days
My nigga C had rolled it tight
It was mid wasn't no dank mane
Never did I think man that I'd grow up to be a king
Smokin' on the best weed in Cali under palm trees
With the baddest women
Remember when they never checked for me
Then I ran my check up, they won't let up to get next to me
Out in Las Vegas smoked big blunts with my nigga Eight
Passed out from the heat I bussed my head
Them hoes still came my way
My nigga Ham smoke the best weed and keep some pints of lean
Pour it in lemonade, jolly ranchers no we dont need
Smokin, drinkin' helped me through them days when I ain't have no cheese
Breakin' down a QP to slang it getcha through the week
Just to eat, God forgive me let my niggas rest in peace
The ones that never made it to the penthouse to light up with me
Do that just for anybody who done ever felt pain
I don came a long way from smoking blunts off Daniel Payne

Let me take you to Ensley 1991
Some of my first recollections of life, where I begun
To show the first signs of music and love
Daddy played all kinds of records watch the lil boy cut up
No it wasnt Jackson Street in Gary
1032 48th street where my memories are buried
Years later it got scary, dope had killed the neighborhood
Realizing that my folks did as much as they could
To take me away
I did for the most but sometimes I strayed
Sports and music saved my life in a way
Could still be trapping locked in jail or dead caught by a stray
Thankful that the most high had made another way
Cuz I really don't know where I would be without the things
The people around me, my drive and my family
No matter where I go or how many things I see
Them days back in Ensley mean the world to me
