Out of the Trees

We sit by the monuments until they're covered in white
The hope is what takes us out of the trees and into the light
Get lost in the temporary pain upon our skin
Clutching for rest, we open our chest, let it all in

My heartbeats are numbered,
I feel for a comfort that's out of my hands
Or fall like a swallow, my chest feeling hollow without any plans

And if we go straight into the dirt, I don't mind, I don't mind
We're all looking for a way not to hurt, or something aligned

Out of the trees and into the light, divided we wait, divided we fight
Out of the trees and into the light, into the light

We go when we're broken, and all the dead oceans move further away
They're vacant and surging,
I watch through the curtains and see out the days
And stare into dark pink skies of nothing until it all fades
I want to have comfort, I want to mean something, I want to have faith

And if we go straight into the dirt, I don't mind, I don't mind
We're all looking for a way not to hurt, or something aligned

Out of the trees and into the light, divided we wait, divided we fight
Out of the trees and into the light, into the light
