The Cobblestone Stomp

On my way down south today
I came to a fork in the road
A gold, cobblestone path to the left
A dry desert to the right
Hungry, thirsty and singin' the blues
I just couldn't resist
Turnin' my head away from the right
And, skippin' down to the left

When right before my eyes appeared
As the dust began to clear
A city of sin invitin' me in
Spinnin' right 'round down to

The Cobblestone Stomp
Them revelin' devils
Kickin' up bones and sticks and stones
And, dancin' all through the night
The Cobblestone Stomp
The Cobblestone Stomp
The Cobblestone Stomp

Teeterin' & totterin' on the fence
'Bout sowin' some wild oats
Paintin' the town fifty different shades
Of stone, cold crazio
A skeleton hand struck up the band
And, was playin' my favorite tune
All that jazz can lead a good man
Right down to his doom

And, right before my eyes appeared
As the dust began to clear
A city of sin invitin' me in
Spinnin' right 'round down to

The Cobblestone Stomp
Them revelin' devils
Kickin' up bones and sticks and stones
And, dancin' all through the night
The Cobblestone Stomp
The Cobblestone Stomp
The Cobblestone Stomp

What then came to my surprise
This rug cuttin' was an evil guise
I stepped outside and felt the heat
Of burnin' Bible's in the street
Me oh my! What have I done?
I let the devil in for a lil' fun
Hit my knees & shed a tear
Lord Jesus come get me outta here

By the grit 'n skin 'o my teeth
I barely made it out alive
I high-tailed it back down the road
To find the fork to the right
The woulda, coulda, shoulda life in that town
Can tickle a fancy dream
But, one thing I know for sure
That road ain't what it seems

And, right before my eyes appeared
As the dust began to clear
A city of sin invitin' me in
Spinnin' right 'round down to

The Cobblestone Stomp
Them revelin' devils
Kickin' up bones and sticks and stones
And, dancin' all through the night
The Cobblestone Stomp
The Cobblestone Stomp
The Cobblestone Stomp
