Enjoy the Breeze
What am I supposed to do
To get on with the things I wanna say?
I've run out of words, it seems
But maybe words don't matter all that much
Spring is on the outside, warming up
My thoughts and fingertips
This year there's a reason to stay or leave
Or just start to give a damn
I'm awake, alive - and sometimes I think that
When I'm on the ground is when I fall because I stumble on myself
AND SO I PLAY IT LOUD
AND SING IT AS IT COMES UP TO THE WIND
MAYBE IT'S NOT PERFECT BUT IT'S FINE
NOT ALL THE RHYMES ARE WHERE THEY'D NEED TO BE
And it takes time because I ain't twenty anymore
And it's not late when you're just warming from the cold
And you can't stop the wind that brings the summertime
So... enjoy the breeze
So I make up my mind
It's spring and so it's time for a change of season
Get out of the closet lots of sweaters and ideas
That don't fit anymore
Ok I know I'm far from teens but still can wear
Those old blue jeans and cowboy hat
This worn-out shirt maybe a keeper
And I may still need those sneakers on the road ahead
'cause I'm awake, alive and sometimes I think that
When I'm on the ground is when I fall because I stumble on myself
AND SO I PLAY IT LOUD, AND SING IT AS IT COMES UP TO THE WIND
MAYBE IT'S NOT PERFECT BUT IT'S FINE
NOT ALL THE RHYMES ARE WHERE THEY'D NEED TO BE
And it takes breath 'cause I ain't twenty anymore
And it takes strength to keep eyes steady on the fore
And takes a lifetime to realize how lucky I am
That you're with me... to enjoy the breeze
To get on with the things I wanna say?
I've run out of words, it seems
But maybe words don't matter all that much
Spring is on the outside, warming up
My thoughts and fingertips
