To Shape a Rock

Despair and fright around the eleventh hour
Her hand makes a move and casts away the doubt
He tries to talk but can't untwist his tongue oh no
No I can't untwist my tongue
Will she still think of us, when she can't get rid of the jet lag
Started early finished overnight, is this it
I didn't take no shortcuts

Less likely the story, more and more he feels inclined
To reading the future on a dirty glass while his party trick
Surrenders without a fight

Forsook the shower for writing this line, when we meet again
I'll be counting on my doubts
Tried to put it in poetic rhyme but everything is now
Just a footnote to Goddard
Ran out of tape but got plenty of nouns
Better grab a drink in case what follows is not too bright

Now you turned loose on the world, infecting them with that smile
More distant the glory, less and less, it creeps inside
Seeing you holding hands outside the bar will just be, a hair of the dog that bites

You didn't dream anymore, but honey let me be in your mind
I won't spoil the surprise; all I ever do is come back
Less likely the story, more and more, I feel inclined
To cross the ocean and run to your arms, well I can't complain
I'm not the only one who is stuck
