Equilibrium
Mute fluorescent lights
That night lit our paths
By the forgotten Coke machine
None wanted to be photographed
Our band of misfits with mismatched brands
Joked about the alpha males
The green teacher readied the stand
Mulling forgotten words
She covered her left hand with her right
And sported stone-cold social smirk
One couldn't take this irritant novelty
And melted into black-orange night
A typecast child amid all these bygones
Our blurry hands recast the stage
As I foretell how this will get pell-mell
A smile I could believe in responds
Love, so hard to define
Except I think this time
You've got your miracle
Chemical supply and demand
Or just a state of balance
Inside your skull
Two equidistant faces
My cerebrum starts to superscribe
And I recant that love is false
As blushing panthers supervise
This pair of misfits, two indefinite kids
Were great despite my fragile faith
I'm not accustomed to being this ad lib
But you brought the necessary tools
You looked at my lens with peerless quirk
Our nascent contours glistened in the distance
Your eyeshadow in the sun was equilibrium
But suddenly my sure smirk unfurled
This poet has blown it with ruminant fonts
Your cell phone oozing boozy bile
Though I walk solo down some moon-soaked street
A smile I still believe in haunts
Love, so hard to define
Except I think this time
I've got my miracle
Chemical supply and demand
Or just a state of balance
Inside my skull
That night lit our paths
By the forgotten Coke machine
None wanted to be photographed
Our band of misfits with mismatched brands
Joked about the alpha males
