The Crone

Though as I've said little is known today of
The actual practice of witchcraft in 17th century New England
Superstition, fear and jealousy
Drove the puritans to accuse their friends and relatives of
Consorting with the Devil
Parading around huge bonfires
Repeating vindictive chants
They consigned the poor creatures to the flames
The tortured souls cried out in agony
As the flames mounted higher and higher
Burn witch
Burn witch

I am the freak
I am torn away
No one should set me free
And on my way I would perceive
My freedom of will be released
I am the one that they'll burn tonight

I am the snake
That will lie with you
You cannot run away
It's time to tell us of your dreams
The fortunate will hear your screams
A siren song sung by firelight

Look around you think it's fine?
Sometimes life can be divine
But I deserve to see this through
We are more and I am you
Heed the call and watch us all
Eat the fire
Without you
Without you

Wake up entwined
I'll summon up the truth
This world will carry on
And all this time spent in a haze
My conscience will fade with this blaze
Under the sun I am free once more

Look around you think it's fine?
Sometimes life can be divine
But I deserve to see this through
We are more and I am you
Heed the call and watch us all
Eat the fire
Without you
