Tired

These days
It's tempting keep my phone off
When I look at the screen, all I see is loss
These days
I find myself getting up to go
And then turning back around because
These days
I just never know what an outing could become

Routine and adventure went out the window
Compassion and mercy is all we have
Division is deadly, and we all feel alone

There must be something I can do
Because I'm tired, I'm so tired
Of sitting with the news

Can somebody tell me
How can I reach out,
When I have to stay in
People are dying
I'm spiraling
It hurts us to go out
We all need to stay in
Please, just stay in

You'd think
Humanity would give itself some patience
When everyone's confused
You'd think we're better than this
And you'd think that more violence wouldn't happen
When we're already at war, but no
You'd think we've forgotten how to love

Routine and adventure went out the window
Compassion and mercy is all we have
Division is deadly, and we all feel alone

There must be something I can do
Because I'm tired, I'm so tired
Of sitting with the news

Can somebody tell me
How can I reach out,
When I have to stay in
People are dying
I'm spiraling
It hurts us to go out
We all need to stay in
Please, just stay in

I know you want freedom
I want it too
But trust me, the gateway to freedom
Is supporting all those around you

I know you want freedom
And I want it too
But we'll never have freedom
Unless we help others fight for it too

There must be something I can do
Because I'm tired, I'm so tired
Of sitting with the news

Can somebody tell me
How can I reach out,
When I have to stay in
People are dying
I'm spiraling
Until we can go out
Please, just stay in
I'm so tired of the news
