What Matters? - Cinematic Version

Yo, use your voice, use your instruments, use, use your platforms
To say what you need to say

I don't even want to chop the tree down
You know what I want to do Adam

Come a little closer
I want to dig that motherfucker up from the root

And the only way this thing is going to change is you have to dig up the roots
The root is the education of the children of the next generation
Doggone right
Got to change the root

You gotta chop up that root, get that root up out of there
And then plant a whole new tree
A tree of love, justice, mercy, grace, compassion, kindness, forgiveness
You've got to plant that tree

There's a social contract that we all have that if you steal or I steal
Then, the person who has the authority comes in and they fix the situation
But the person who fixes the situation is killing us
So the social contract is broken
And if the social contract is broken, why the fuck do I give a shit
About burning a mother fucking football hall of fame
About burning a fucking target

You broke the contract when you killed us in the streets and didn't give a fuck
You broke the contract when for 400 years we played your game and built your wealth
You broke the contract when we built our wealth again, on our own, by our bootstraps in Tulsa and you dropped bombs on us
When we built it in Rosewood and you came in and you swatted us
You broke the contract so fuck your target, fuck your hall of fame

How can you win, How can you win
You can't win

You're right, there's so many barriers, so many hurdles that people are put through
If their fighting so hard to keep you from doing because they don't want you to do it
That's absolutely what you should do
Voting is the number 1 priority

You know, what a blessing it is to be evolved
We have to keep teaching people how evolve
And lead them with our actions, with our thoughts, with our words
This is important
We're evolved people and we have to keep teaching people how to evolve

So, look, we get it
We understand it sucks that you have to talk to people that you live with, people that you love
And I'm glad that you see that some of your family members are racist
Talk to 'em, talk to 'em
You are breaking a generational cycle, a generation mindset, a generational curse
It is not something that's easy
That is a fight in itself

From what I understand, you want to go back, you want to go back and you want to try and help undo hundreds of years
Far as I'm concerned they can burn this bitch to the ground
Of systemic
And it still wouldn't be enough
Racism
And they are lucky that what black people are looking for is equality and not revenge
I'm down, I say we do it

That's one small step for man
One giant leap for mankind
