Character Gray

Before the wind, a spirt undaunted
Trying to Provide a little light for the haunted
In moment of shine
As translucent as crystalline
The ghost was indubitably mine
By the day, a happy preacher with a spotlight
Working just as hard to drown the spirit in the night
I was a blind man dreaming every color out of sight
And I would pray, that in the morning, I would see the light
Yes I pray, that in the morning, I will see the light
The midnight brought the fever
From disciple to non believer
The new wind had blown
I didn't know how to be alone
In a White Night, or a Dark Day
The lines blurred I lost the way
But you cant see my wavelength anyway
When the story is told in black and white
All of the characters are gray

So much trouble in feeling confined
In a story left undefined
Now I'm glasses for the blind
Looking for something they could never find
I'm looking for something I will never find

Now I'm heartache turned griever
Sinking like a stone
That's learning how to be alone
In your Big Plans and Appetite
You almost left me doing time
Your hunger, hunger, hunger?
That aint my crime
Do you realize what was lost in compromise? But I'll still apologize
Cuz there is always the other side
There was poison in the grapevine
And some of that fruit is mine
But Eve has to take a bite
And Eden is the sacrifice
In a role of a lifetime
The stars don't align
Your wavelength never matched mine

Every word you say
A hundred words a page
You'll never read any way
When the story is told in black and white
All the characters are grey
