This Caged Bird Song (Thug Poetry)
What happened to this caged song?
It must be broken, 'cause it won't even sing
No! It can't be heard through the interference
Through the interference of this caged bird dreams
And really it has no audience so it can sing
Pretty feathers on the outside, but within
But within, something's wrong with this caged bird song
It longs to puff up its lungs and blow you a pretty song
What happened to this caged bird song?
What happened to this caged bird song?
It just want to break free from this cage and fly away
'Cause it's so tired of people knocking on its cage
And saying, Hey! Cage bird sing, can't you sing? Can't you see?
That it's perched up on so much pain
Maya said she knows why it sing, when
It haven't song a got damn thing
When its song is a lonely melody, from the silence of its melanin
So when it opens up its beak to sing his song, you don't understand
What happened to this caged bird song?
You're just standing there, in a trance
But the little birdie, just wants a chance
To tell you what happened to his song
But, when he begins to sing, nothing comes out
Nothing comes out, but a stream
Nothing but a stream of tears, a stream of fears
There's something cheerful you should hear
But hey! What happened to this caged bird song?
It must be broken, 'cause it won't even sing
No! It can't be heard through the interference
Through the interference of this caged bird dreams
And really it has no audience so it can sing
Pretty feathers on the outside, but within
