When Outside Opens
My coworker's missing his sister, that COVID hit her
And I done zoomed eleven funerals COVID winter
The main hospital done turned into COVID center
And we ain't seen outside since COVID entered
I'm missing my whole fam, they don't zoom like that
The last time I saw them told them be right back
I dropped mama off a gift on the porch, big facts
Waved at her from the car, and that's a wrap
Masks on don't mean we gonna rob no more
Masks on mean we going to the grocery store
With a line down the block yo disinfect that cart
And I just came out to grab water yo
I was never one to fight over petty little beefs
But I swear I'm bout to swing if you come in six feet.
That ain't sweet, I'm going out my mind
Strange how social distance can change mankind
(When will I see you again?)
I'm hoping that outside opens.
Yo I swear I'm hoping outside opens
(When will I see you again?)
I'm hoping outside opens
(When will I see you again?)
Yo I swear I'm hoping outside opens
(When will I see you again?)
Remember going out to eat?
Man that was sweet
Remember holding hands in the sand on the beach
Remember just jumping on a plane for release
Remember sitting box at the game with your peeps
I remember riding trains before this whole thing changed
Before the wuhaun took on some complex strains
Before the government started giving these complex names
Before one hundred thousand people died from complex pains
Call me shallow I miss shopping malls and new sneakers
Overpriced Jordan's and never worn yeezis
Guess I should be thinking about something sort of deeper
But I can't stop thinking that last trip to Puerto Rico
Wish I had shown up to happy hour with amigos
Not of standing them up most time incognito
Quarantining sucks your life it's an extroverts mosquito
Dreaming of the places I just want to say can we go
(When will I see you again?)
When outside opens.
I'm hoping outside opens
(When will I see you again?)
When outside opens
(When will I see you again?)
I swear I'm hoping outside opens
(When will I see you again?)
I don't really like my job, but I'm trying to go back to work
Sunday 10 AM trying to go back to church
We trying to grab these four wheelers go play in the dirt
NC double A trying to run with the terps
I never knew seeing my brother would turn into a perk
Or theological talking demon killing with Curt
I'm trying to barbecue again grab the grill get to work
Plan the family reunion back yard in the burbs
I'm trying to feel the cool breeze top the Empire State
I'm trying to walk Venice beach through the sand in LA
I'm trying to ride out to Las Vegas for the day
And see the whole strip top the Mandalay Bay
I wanna see Caribbean blue
by sliding on through
A carnival cruise
And listen to a steel drum groove
Man that would be cool
But to tell you the truth
When this whole thing is over I probably still won't move
When outside opens
And I done zoomed eleven funerals COVID winter
The main hospital done turned into COVID center
And we ain't seen outside since COVID entered
