Sposed to be land of the free
But we ain't on the same page
They killing us in the street
And dumping us in the grave
If they don't kill us in the street
They throwing us in the cage
And won't lose a lick a sleep
After throwing the key away
Sposed to be land of the free
But we ain't on the same page
They killing us in the street
And dumping us in the grave
If they don't kill us in the street
They throwing us in the cage
And won't lose a lick a sleep
After throwing the key away
This needs no introduction
This issue needs discussion
Hands reaching to the sky but
Cops they still gone get to bustin
Every time I read the news
Black life has been obstructed
We the people need a plot
To disseminate this cruel corruption
In the streets we see destruction
Riots from the people
That ain't the answer
But the system drowning us in evil
Swear it's so deceitful
Some murders count as legal
We need some answers
From the government to help our people
It ain't bout black versus white
This here bout wrong versus right
Taking breath from innocent people
Who begging for they life
Bloodshed
Bodies dead
By the people who protect
Every cop ain't evil
That I know for them I show respect
Need the good to rise up with us
Stop the cycle that's in motion
Bring to light the killers
Ones who stir up the commotion
As an African American
I harvest these emotions
Just pray my mom don't bury me
Because my life was stolen
Like George Floyd
Over twenty dollars he ain't have to die
Or Emmett Till whose killers
Got set free in 1955
Trayvon who looked suspicious
Walking round so late at night
That ain't right
His killer walking free
But took a precious life
This is why MLK marched
And Kapernick kneeled
Peaceful protest seems hopeless
When they don't care how you feel
Sorry if you don't agree but I'm just keeping it real
We need equality and justice
So our nation can heal
But we ain't on the same page
They killing us in the street
And dumping us in the grave
If they don't kill us in the street
They throwing us in the cage
And won't lose a lick a sleep
After throwing the key away
Sposed to be land of the free
