Sunrise

Losing weight and staying up late
Worrying about what the world has become
I watch the sunrise over the city, not because I'm up early
But because I've barely slept at all

The same view out every window
Pale concrete, brick, and mortar
I miss the wild sea breeze and the Scottish rain

Oh I'm locked up for my own good, thanking my lucky stars
That I made it back before the sickness could come in from afar
I've got the people who matter the most with me
Doing well and healthy too
But that doesn't mean I don't miss the sea or everyone and you

I spend my days overthinking everything
From coursework to the way I dress
I spend my nights counting furniture, no stars to put my mind at rest
Times are strange and it's safe to say I'm doing my best

I talk about the world with my father
Play card games with my little brother
Always thankful for my mother keeping me sane

Oh I'm locked up for my own good, thanking my lucky stars
That I made it back before the sickness could come in from afar
I've got the people who matter the most with me
Doing well and healthy too
But that doesn't mean I don't miss the sea or everyone and you

One friend's enjoying the rain
Another's working early shifts, easing the world's pain
A third is stranded oceans away from home

I hope that we'll be alright
'cause I miss them all with all my might
And when I turn off the lights tonight I'll dream of castles

Oh I'm locked up for my own good, thanking my lucky stars
That I made it back before the sickness could come in from afar
I've got the people who matter the most with me
Doing well and healthy too
But that doesn't mean I don't miss the sea or everyone and you
That doesn't mean I don't miss the sea or everyone and you

I watch the sunrise over the city, not because I'm up early
But because I've barely slept at all
