Simon and Mary

Simon was a boy of just 18
He met Mary by the bar one Sunday Eve
Well he said to her
It's nice to meet
My name's Simon, could I treat you to a drink?

And she said to him
You sure are sweet
But I think you might be just too young for me
Mary had brown curls and pearly teeth
And Simon never gave up quite so easily

He said
Ma'am, I know I may not be that old
But I know a woman when I see one

She said
Simon, so show me you're a man
Take my hand
Let's see if you can dance
And so they danced

Two hours later they were both out on the street
The bartender took Simon's fake ID
And if I told you, would you believe
That Mary came out with him even though she's 23?

Simon told her
You don't have to leave for me
Go back inside the bar
Enjoy your party

She said
Simon, darling, you've swept me off my feet
I've never seen a man move like your body to that beat

He said
Ma'am, I know I may not be that old
But I know a woman when I see one

She said
Simon, show me you're a man
Take my hand
Let's see if you can dance
And so they danced again

So Simon took her home and just like Johnny Flynn
Mary said to him
I'll be the best I've been

He walked her to the porch and before she went in
He kissed her on the lips
And grinned the biggest grin

He said
Ma'am, I know I may not be that old
But I know a woman when I see one

She said
Simon, show me you're a man
Take my hand
Let's see if you can dance
And so they danced again
