I feel an angel on my shoulder

I could be negative, but I won't
I feel it deep in my soul, telling me don't
For awhile, my life felt out control
My own hands, my plans wasn't a go
That's when I knew, there was something left to still pursue
Since I grew, my attitude changed, I was confused
On what to do, I thought I knew but ain't understand
To advance, you need more than just a simple plan (Say your prayers)
Your mind, body and soul is essential too
Your work ethic more useful than what potential do
It's who you know, gotta network and expand
Build your brand, from your homeland to desert sands
Man, surrounded by less anger
I'm thankful, to be around less danger
Traveling around and getting love from strangers
I can't explain, but I'm grateful

Through music, I'm able to give a message
And some will say that itself is a blessing
So for that, I shouldn't ever be stressing
Stay hungry and patient, but life be testing
Me in ways, I sometimes don't even speak about
Test my faith, feel like there's nothing to dream about
Doubting people before I even was reaching out
I had to change my ways, and take the scenic route
Life's an experiment of trial and error
If my mama was here, she tell me say my prayers
Ain't heard her voice in years, I hope she proud of me
If she could see me, I know she be looking out for me
Or least I hope, it ain't easy tryna be the GOAT
Always alone, they ask me if I speak to ghosts
I say I don't, but I see life from a different angle
