Icarus

He points above me and says,
"Look at all the pretty stars you see
Someday that is where I'm gonna be."

Icarus sits on the roof
He tries to fly, but he falls, now he's broken
I ask him, "Why would you try?"
He looks me dead in the eye and he says, "I am broken."

He wants to fly to the sky
Just to see what's there because he is broken
I ask him, "Why would you try?"
And he says, "'Cause I'm sad, misshapen and broken."

He points above me and says,
"Look at all the pretty stars you see
Someday that is where I'm gonna be."
I say nothing because
I was never one to shatter dreams
Only thing I do is listening

Oh, oh

Icarus makes two large wings
By dripping wax from a
Candle that he found laying around in my living room
Staples the base to his back
And sews 'em in with thick
Rope through the skin
And he won't let them be removed

And everyone watched as he flew
Disregarding all our warnings
And finding out that flying's something that you can't do
And downward he fell,
Soon knowing what it means to be
Completely and desperately broken

And he's broken

He points above me and says,
"Look at all the pretty stars you see
Someday that is where I'm gonna be."
I say nothing because
I was never one to shatter dreams
Only thing I do is listening

Oh, oh

Icarus sits on the moon
Looking through rocks and living on in galleries
Don't suppose I'll see him soon
We buried him down in the depths of the ocean
I never thought he was misshapen or broken

Oh, oh, oh
