Seasons
She had been plagued by late Autumn
Summer had already packed its bags
In search of a new land to bring life to
Warmth had already vanished over the horizon
Happiness had already flown south
Love's heyday had fallen from her joy long ago
And her daisies died at the dusk of love's existence
Her Autumn felt eternal
Like an endless season
Of watching love leave
Watching her trust in truthfulness turn into discolored promises
Watching her faith in faithfulness Fall and whither
Like an abandoned leaf
Watching the radio blow winds of heartbreak from its speakers
Reminding her that love was merely a fairytale
Her belief in true love thus thrusted to the ground
Now colored in painful memories of what must have been lies
Her scattered regret had not yet been discarded or raked
They visibly lay on the ground beneath her broken heart
As painful reminders
Just there out of reach lied her bag full of emptiness
And she stood there in the midst of her pain like an oak tree
Stripped by a season that loved it the least
Her bare branches exposed forever
Her hurt perpetually piling beneath
She settled for the cold embrace of a season of apathy
For there had been no signs that love would ever hold her again
The endless rain from her eyes was never in the forecast
Late Autumn is where I found her
And I tried to restore her love
And tried
And tried
But to no avail
For she needed a Winter God
Because only God could cleanse the bacteria of her past
Send her weary spirit into hibernation
Or prepare new fruits of love for their arrival
She needed God to restore her soul
And her faith
And her trust
And her love
And she found Him
And her life found the end to late Autumn
And Winter ran its course
And recently
God nudged her slumbering soul
And gave that sleeping beauty a Spring awakening
Planting new seeds of hope around her
I was there ready to be her knight in shining Summer
Warmly embracing her tight enough
To slay any immortal Autumns lurking around her
Love had again emerged from her joy
And I love the way her body dances in the breeze now
I love the way her beauty shines in the sun now
I love the way her love flourishes in our Summer
And I vow
To keep her here
In this season
Summer had already packed its bags
