No Hero

I awake to a foreboding silence
Crystal vision, an uneasy calmness
There is no air, a quiet peace
A truer perception of reality

There within the shadow
A veiled figure: Judgement

My screams fall silent
Pitiful gasps in the face of death
"You know me" I plead
Hollow words to evade the reckoning

My cowardice pitilessly met by the demon of my design
And alas I realize in time I'll be no hero

Anguish for a life left unlived
A result of tainted entropy

I am as Ouroboros
As an imploding black hole

Do you hear the music of the dirt?
It's been calling me for some time

Paralyzed
Forever dying
Indifferent
Forever dying

Buried and decomposing
No epitaph, no story
A hollow husk

As I arise through the firmament the vision now subsides
But it echoes commandments by which I must abide
The thundering drum in my chest beats songs
Of a time where the rain could pass
And so too through the muddy soil would peak emerald blades at last

Forgive me, as I've painted this affront to God
Forgive me for making misery my art
